Finial Studs are used to convert from standard 1/8IP (3/8"diameter) lamp/pipe thread to 1/4-27 lampshade thread. These have several applications.

Finial Studs are used on table or floor lamps that use socket cluster hardware with standard 1/8IP thread. The stud screws onto 1/8IP threaded nipple, and a lampshade with a standard lampshade solid washer can be attached and secured with a finial.

They can also be used to attach or suspend an upside-down (inverted) lampshade with a solid washer from ceiling light fixture hardware with standard 1/8IP threaded pipe. A finial is used to secure the shade to the finial stud.
