Meteor Lights' fiberglass lampshades are recommended as replacement shades on lamps in the following styles: retro-modern, 1950s, Eames, atomic, Danish Modern, mid-century/modern, tiki, vintage western, googie or biomorphic, and contemporary decor. Please note that any style (except the sconce shield) can be made as a pendant lamp. For more information, read the individual style descriptions.

These are the classic tiered lampshades from the 1940s and 1950s. They are also known as the "double decker," "triple decker," and "birthday cake" lampshade styles. The regular two-tier is an appropriate replacement lampshade on most mid-century lamp designs. The reverse (or "upside-down") two-tier lampshade is especially suited to retro/modern, atomic, and tiki lamps, and on many Danish Modern and retro-influenced contemporary lamps as well. The XL reverse two-tier shade looks great over standard-sized dining tables; the large and medium reverse two-tier shade look great over dinette sets. The three-tier fiberglass lampshades are a classic fifties design, and make for dramatic pendant light fixtures.

The heights listed below are our standard heights for our tiered lampshades; we can customize these heights to suit your needs in most cases. Please note that two-tier pendant shades are at least 10" tall.

Atomic tiered lampshades are appropriate for the wilder fifites atomic, Jetsons, googie, biomorphic,and tiki lamps. The atomic three-tier shades also make great hanging lamps. The heights listed below are our standard heights for our atomic tiered lampshades, but these heights are somewhat customizable to your needs. Atomic tiered pendant shades are a minimum of 10" tall.

The clean lines of the classic, minimalist drum lampshade works well with all mid-century and retro-influenced contemporary styles, and is a great choice for many Danish Modern lamps. Standard drum heights are 8", 9", or 10" (please note your choice of height on our Order Form). 6", 8", 10", and 13" dia. drum shades can be made in custom heights up to 14" tall; 15" and 18" dia. drum shades can be made up to 12" tall. Please indicate your custom height in the message box on our Order Form. Oversize height on small diameter shades is $10 extra; oversize height on larger diameter shades is $15.

Pendant drum shades are at least 10" tall. A gang of three or five 6" dia. pendant shades look cool over a bar or a kitchen island. Larger diameters are recommended for general space illumination. The 18" dia. shade makes a great pendant lamp.

Fiberglass Cones, Squares, and Sconces:

The traditional cone is a standard replacement lamp shade with a wide range of smaller vintage lamps. The tall cone shade is cool with smaller googie and tiki lamps.

Square lampshades work well in minimalist, modern decor. Square lampshades can be tricky to fit on many lamps; make a mock-up if you aren't sure. Square lampshades are available in 8", 9", and 10" heights. Oversize heights are available. Square pendant shades are at least 10" tall.
